Stacks Governance Intelligence for Discord

Project Overview

SIP Bot is a dedicated governance assistant designed to bring Stacks governance directly into the Stacks Discord.

Previously referred to as the NovaBotAI wrapper, the project will be renamed and positioned as SIP Bot or, alternatively, STX GOV Bot.

The bot's purpose is to help the Stacks community better understand governance, follow Stacks Improvement Proposals (SIPs), support CAB groups, and increase awareness and participation in community voting.

The goal is simple:

Make Stacks governance easier to understand, easier to follow, and easier to participate in.

Mission

SIP Bot exists to:

Inform

Provide real-time, accessible information about SIPs, governance activity, proposal status, CAB groups, and voting opportunities.

Educate

Explain governance processes, technical proposals, and protocol changes in clear and understandable language.

Progress

Help CAB groups and the broader community move governance activity forward through awareness, discussion, review, and informed participation.

SIP Bot helps transform governance information into community understanding and action.

Core Functions

1. SIP Education

Community members can interact directly with SIP Bot to better understand the Stacks governance process.

Example questions include:

  • What is a SIP?

  • How does the SIP lifecycle work?

  • What SIPs are currently active?

  • What does this proposal change?

  • What are the potential risks?

  • What is currently open for voting?

  • What happens after a SIP is ratified?

  • How can I participate in Stacks governance?

SIP Bot will translate governance documentation and technical information into clear, conversational answers.

2. SIP Discovery and Status Tracking

SIP Bot will connect directly to the SIP Tracker and help surface governance activity throughout the full proposal lifecycle:

Draft → Review → Voting → Ratified → Implemented

Community members will be able to quickly discover:

  • Active SIPs

  • Proposals under review

  • SIPs open for voting

  • Voting deadlines

  • Ratified proposals

  • Rejected proposals

  • Historical SIPs

  • Implementation progress

The objective is to make current governance activity easy to discover without requiring users to navigate multiple dashboards or documents.

3. CAB Group Support

SIP Bot will serve as an intelligence and coordination layer for Community Advisory Board (CAB) groups.

Potential capabilities include:

  • Summarizing SIP proposals

  • Explaining technical changes

  • Highlighting important discussion points

  • Identifying potential risks and considerations

  • Tracking active voting periods

  • Reminding CAB members about voting deadlines

  • Answering questions about the governance process

  • Directing members to the appropriate SIP and voting interface

The goal is to reduce the friction between receiving a proposal, understanding it, and taking informed action.

4. Community Voting Support

During active voting periods, SIP Bot can help increase visibility and participation by:

  • Announcing new voting opportunities

  • Explaining what each SIP proposes

  • Providing simplified proposal summaries

  • Sharing relevant context and discussion resources

  • Highlighting voting deadlines

  • Directing eligible CAB members to the appropriate voting interface

  • Providing updates as proposals progress through governance

SIP Bot does not replace the existing governance or voting infrastructure.

Instead, it acts as the communication, education, and intelligence layer around that infrastructure.

Integration Architecture

SIP Bot will use the existing SIP Tracker as its primary governance intelligence and data layer.

The SIP Tracker provides structured information around:

  • SIP proposals

  • Proposal status

  • Governance lifecycle

  • Voting activity

  • CAB groups

  • Voting results

  • Ratification status

  • Implementation progress

SIP Bot

SIP Bot becomes the conversational interface that brings this governance information directly into the Stacks Discord.

SIP Tracker → Governance Data → SIP Bot → Stacks Discord

This creates a direct connection between governance infrastructure and the Stacks community.

Long-Term Vision

The long-term goal is to establish SIP Bot as an always-available governance intelligence assistant for the Stacks ecosystem.

As governance activity grows, it becomes increasingly difficult for community members to keep up with proposals, discussions, voting periods, and implementation progress.

SIP Bot can help organize this information into a simple, accessible, conversational experience.

Future capabilities may include:

  • Real-time SIP updates

  • Automated governance announcements

  • Active voting notifications

  • CAB group coordination

  • Voting reminders

  • AI-generated SIP summaries

  • Governance research assistance

Set Up

Discord Admins

The Stacks Discord admin team will set up and configure the NovaBotAI infrastructure and Discord integration.

Zero Authority Team

The Zero Authority team will help configure and develop the governance experience, including the knowledge, functionality, prompts, and integrations required to support the Stacks community.

The governance bot can be deployed under either of the following identities:

SIP Bot

A focused identity centered on:

  • Stacks Improvement Proposals

  • SIP education

  • CAB groups

  • Governance status

  • Community voting

STX GOV Bot

A broader governance identity designed to support:

  • Governance education

  • SIP discovery

  • CAB coordination

  • Voting participation

  • Protocol discussions

  • Community governance activity

The final name can be determined in collaboration with the Stacks Discord admin team.

Project Summary
