# Nova for CAB Groups & Governance Participants

{% hint style="success" %}
**No dashboards, no bookmarks, no manual checking.** Just ask Nova in plain English and get instant answers. Set up alerts once and never miss a governance event again.
{% endhint %}

***

### Quick Start

1. **Add Nova** to your Discord server or Telegram group (or DM the bot directly)
2. **Ask anything** — just mention @Nova or reply to its messages
3. **Set up alerts** — tell Nova what you want to be notified about
4. That's it. No accounts to create, no forms to fill out.

### SIP Monitoring

#### Check Any SIP's Status

> *"What's the status of SIP-032?"* *"Show me details on SIP-034"* *"Which SIPs are currently in activation?"*

**Nova returns:** title, status, type (Meta/Consensus/Standard), consideration area, authors, abstract, GitHub PR link, and forum discussion link.

#### Browse All SIPs

> *"Show me all SIPs"* *"List SIPs grouped by status"* *"How many SIPs are there?"*

**Nova returns:** full SIP registry with status breakdown — see at a glance how many are Draft, in Review, Ratified, etc.

#### Governance Stats

> *"Show me SIP governance stats"*

**Nova returns:** total SIPs, open CAB voting instances, closed instances, number of CAB groups.

***

### CAB Voting

#### Check Vote Status

> *"Are there any open CAB votes?"* *"What's the CAB voting status on SIP-032?"* *"Show me the vote tally for SIP-034"*

**Nova returns:** whether voting is open or closed, vote tallies (yes/no/abstain), total votes cast, and voting instance history.

#### Track Voting Activity

> *"Has any CAB vote closed recently?"* *"Which SIPs have had CAB voting?"*

***

### Alerts — Never Miss a Vote

This is where Nova becomes indispensable for CAB members. Set up alerts once, and Nova will **proactively notify you** on Discord or Telegram when governance events happen.

#### Alert: CAB Voting Opens

> *"Alert me when CAB voting opens on any SIP"*

You'll be notified the moment a new CAB vote is initiated — so you never miss your window to vote.

#### Alert: CAB Voting Closes

> *"Alert me when any CAB vote closes"*

Get the final tallies (yes/no/abstain) delivered to you as soon as voting concludes.

#### Alert: SIP Status Changes

> *"Alert me when any SIP changes status"*

Track the full lifecycle: Draft -> Review -> Accepted -> Activation-in-Progress -> Ratified. Know immediately when a proposal advances or is withdrawn.

#### Alert: Specific SIP

> *"Alert me about any activity on SIP-034"*

Follow a single SIP you care about — status changes AND CAB voting activity.

#### Alert: New SIPs

> *"Notify me when new SIPs are proposed"*

Be the first to know when a new improvement proposal enters the registry.

#### Alert: Catch-All Governance

> *"Alert me about all SIP governance activity"*

One alert to rule them all — every status change, every CAB vote open/close, every new SIP.

{% hint style="info" %}
**How it works:** Nova checks for SIP and CAB changes every 2 hours. When your conditions match, you get a rich notification with all the details — SIP title, status change, vote tallies, and links to GitHub/forum. Alerts are delivered on the same platform where you set them up (Discord or Telegram).
{% endhint %}

### Ecosystem Events

#### Browse Events

> *"What Stacks events are coming up?"* *"Show me virtual events"* *"Any in-person events this month?"* *"Search events about governance"*

**Nova returns:** title, date/time, virtual vs in-person, location or meeting link, host, attendee count, token requirements, and on-chain attendance badges.

#### Event Alerts

> *"Alert me about new Stacks events"* *"Notify me when events are about to start"* *"Alert me about virtual events only"*

Nova checks for new events every 30 minutes and notifies you about new listings, status changes, and events starting within the hour.

### Example: A CAB Member's Setup

Here's what a typical CAB member might set up in a 2-minute conversation with Nova:

**Step 1** — Set up governance alerts:

> *"Hey Nova, alert me about all SIP governance activity"* Nova: *"I'll set up an alert for all SIP status changes and CAB voting events. You'll be notified whenever a SIP changes status, a new SIP appears, or a CAB vote opens/closes. Sound good?"* *"Yes"*

**Step 2** — Set up event alerts:

> *"Also alert me about new Stacks events"* Nova: *"I'll set up an alert for new ecosystem events. You'll be notified whenever a new event is posted. Sound good?"* *"Yes"*

**Step 3** — Check current state:

> *"Are there any open CAB votes right now?"* Nova: *\[Returns current voting status across all SIPs]*

**Step 4** — Browse what's active:

> *"Show me all SIPs in activation"* Nova: *\[Returns SIP-033 and SIP-034 with details]*

That's it. From now on, Nova will push notifications to you whenever something happens. No need to manually check dashboards or forums.

Nova remembers your conversation context — you can ask follow-up questions, drill deeper into any topic, and refine your alerts without starting over.
