# Community GM

**Community GM** turns the oldest crypto ritual into a daily brief. When a member says **"gm"** in your Discord server or Telegram group, Nova greets the room back with a **good-morning message** carrying the freshest ecosystem headlines — plus updates from **your community's own sources**: RSS feeds, watched web pages, and on-chain addresses. One GM per rolling **36-hour window**, so it stays a morning moment, never spam.

**Neutral by default — it matches YOUR community.** Nova reads your community's own ecosystem from recent chat and pulls news for *that* chain — Bitcoin, Ethereum/EVM, Solana, Stacks, Ordinals, whatever your room is actually about. Nothing is hardcoded: a Solana community gets Solana mornings, an Ethereum community gets ETH mornings. Every community generates **its own** greeting — no two rooms share one. Want it locked to a specific focus? Add custom instructions (PRO).

The greeting fires in whichever channel a member said "gm". Personal **DM** GM briefs are a separate thing (the `/gm` command) and are unchanged.

## Set It Up — just talk to Nova

(Setup is admin-only, in your server/group — not DMs.) @mention Nova or reply to it:

1. **Turn it on:**
   * *"@Nova turn on the community GM"*
2. **Add your sources (optional, up to 10)** — RSS feeds, watched pages, and on-chain addresses:
   * *"add the RSS feed <https://myproject.xyz/feed.xml> to the GM"*
3. **Steer it (Community PRO):**
   * *"give the GM custom instructions: focus on Bitcoin L2s and our own drops, keep it playful"*
4. **Ground it in live search (Community PRO):**
   * *"turn on the GM web search"*
5. **Check / turn off:**
   * *"is the GM on?"* — settings, sources, and today's web-search budget.

**Already using the channel-level** [**`/gm` opt-in**](/nova-bot/alerts-setup-guides/gm-alerts-legacy.md)**?** It keeps working exactly as before. But the moment you enable the community-level GM here, the **community setting takes precedence** for the whole server/group — including its sources (your existing ones carry over) — and turning the community GM **off** silences GM everywhere in it.

## How the Cadence Works

* The **first** "gm" in a rolling **36h window** triggers the brief; every later "gm" is just a greeting Nova may wave back at.
* **Every community generates its own greeting**, grounded in that room's own recent activity, so the ecosystem always matches — a Solana room never inherits a Bitcoin room's morning. PRO steering and web search layer on top of the same per-community greeting.
* Source updates are always per-community and deduplicated — an article that already appeared in a previous GM won't repeat.
