# GM Alerts (Legacy)

This page covers the **legacy per-channel `/gm` opt-in**: when someone says "gm" (or a variant like "good morning"), Nova replies with a short Bitcoin & Ordinals news brief, plus optional per-community custom sources.

**New setups should use** [**Community GM**](/nova-bot/nova-ai-agent/community/community-gm.md) **instead** — it's neutral by default and per-community, matching each community's own ecosystem rather than always sending Bitcoin/Ordinals. If a community-level GM is enabled, it takes precedence for the whole server/group.

For legacy users, the old `/gm` still works:

* **Opt-in per chat** — enabled per group on Telegram, per channel on Discord (Nova only replies where you've enabled it). DMs are not supported.
* **Admin only** — Telegram group admins; Discord requires **Manage Server** or **Administrator**.
* Run `/gm` to enable, manage custom sources (RSS feed, webpage URL, or Stacks address — 3 Free / 10 Premium per chat or channel), or disable.
* Cooldowns: the shared brief regenerates at most every 6 hours, and each chat/channel receives a GM at most once per 36 hours.

**To migrate:** run `/gm` and disable it in each legacy chat/channel, then set up [Community GM](/nova-bot/nova-ai-agent/community/community-gm.md) for your community.
